This simple yet powerful statement led me to reflect on the connection between my ego and true self, and the importance of consistent meditation practice.
The Message: A Conversation with Myself
I often emphasise the importance of self-awareness and inner dialogue. During my recent meditation, I encountered a poignant moment where my inner voice reached out, saying, “I miss you.” This wasn’t just a fleeting thought; it was my true self reaching out to my ego, reminding me of the deep connection I had neglected.
In our busy lives, it’s easy to become consumed by external pressures and distractions. We often prioritise productivity over self-care, leading to a disconnect between our true selves and the roles we play in the world. This message was a wake-up call for me, highlighting the need to prioritise my inner well-being.
The Struggle: Balancing Life's Demands
Like many of you, I’ve faced challenges that have disrupted my meditation practice. Life’s demands can be overwhelming, and under stress, we often abandon the very practices that keep us grounded. For me, meditation is a critical tool for maintaining balance and clarity. Yet, there are times when I find myself on autopilot, missing sessions, and feeling the impact on my mental and emotional state.
It’s a common struggle. We all face moments where we let go of the routines that nurture us. Recognising this pattern is the first step towards change. Acknowledging that we are human, and that inconsistency happens, allows us to approach our practice with compassion and understanding.
